WHAT IS A STUDENT-RUN CONSULTANCY
Going beyond Academics
The idea of a student-run consultancy is to challenge passionate students beyond their academic curriculum by working on real life consulting projects. Our members are enabled to apply your theoretical knowledge from university to real world situations while gaining practical work experience besides your studies.
Completely self-managed
Each Consulting Academy is independently run and completely managed by students. This gives each and every member the opportunity to take meaningful responsibility to shape the organization’s future. Our members develop skills which go beyond their own field of studies through trainings and the passion shared with other students.
BUSINESS CONSULTING
Companies in return benefit from our creative and innovative ideas and an unbiased approach for every project. By satisfying both our clients as well as our members, we create a unique win-win situation. Each student consultant is compensated for her or his work and at the same time gains valuable and unique work experience.
The Consulting Academy Johannesburg
The first Consulting Academy was founded in South Africa. With its long successful history it is the oldest member of our network. It has a long list of successfully accomplished projects and several of its alumni are now already working for high-profile consultancies.
The Consulting Academy Nairobi
Founded in 2017, The Consulting Academy Nairobi has more than 20 active members from Kenya’s best universities. Its located in Nairobi, the economic and social hub of whole East Africa.
The Consulting Academy Cape Town
This is our second Consulting Academy in South Africa. Founded in 2018 The Consulting Academy Cape Town meets the increasing demand in the South African market. Cape Town has already already accomplished several projects and the demand is still high.
The Consulting Academy Guadalajara
This is the newest member of the family of Consulting Academies founded in the summer of 2019 and our first consultancy in Mexico. The founding targets the increasing demand on ther American continent and is ready to take on projects.
The Consulting Academy Gaborone
We are very excited to announce that we are aiming to establish already our fifth Consulting Academy. This time again in Africa in the city of Gaborone, the capital of Botswana. It will be the first time the founding is organized by an international team it was also initiated by a local student.

With more than 430 sucesfully accomplished projects and more than 130 active consultants, Academy Consult is one of the most successful German student-run consulting firms.

Can I found a Consulting Academy myself?
Yes, you can! This is an intruguing possibility for all student consultants! Up to now only members of student-run consultancies in Germany that are part of the BDSU have founded a TCA, but it is open to everyone!

The first step is to contact us! Just write as an email and we will reply as soon as possible. We will then organize a phone or skype call with you!
The first call
The first call mainly serves to get to know each other. We will present you our TCA-Network and you can present yourself and your ideas. Of course, you can ask any questions you have!
At the end of this call we will set up a second call with you, so that you have time to process all the new information and rethink if you still want to found a student-run consultancy! Of course, we highly encourage you to do it! It is a unique experience and valuable for your future!
Second call
In this call we will provide you with all information needed to see how a founding of a Consulting Academy works. We will also introduce a lot of documents to you that will be of help. If you are still looking for a team, we can help you out with our contacts and support you in finding a successful team! At this point we will also share a lot of documents with your that will be of help and also support you in setting up a timeline and milestones for the adventure!
Through the founding of three student-run business consultancies we now have a lot of experience that we love to share with you.
Founding
You go through the founding process together with your team! Up to now, all teams in Kenya and South Africa stayed for about three months in the respective country and went through the complete process: recruiting, training, internal work and projects. If you want to, we can also support you during this time with coaching calls so that you can check your experiences with the experiences we gained in the three founding already accoplished.
During this time, you will have full access to all our created documents, including templates for recruiting, trainings, contracts, NDAs, logos, business cards, social media story etc. We really have everything that you need but most teams will decide to change some things and improve the documents!
What are the benefits
Branding
Use our logo and our name as a reference for highest quality, especially if you are working with international clients. Being present now internationally on two continents with three TCAs increases credibility for clients!
Materials
You do not have to create all materials by yourself. We can provide you with client acquisition, presentation, design, logo, branding, recruiting documents. You can even get a facebook story, if you want to!
Coaching & Network
You need advise via founding or for growing your organization to a complete student-run business consultancy? In our network you will find people already having experienced the same willing to share their experience!
International Projects
As a long term goal, each TCA shall be able to conduct international projects with international companies and in international teams. Where else can you get this experience while you are still a student?
